Youth Services

Hugh Lane’s Youth team works to provide creative and engaging programming for LGBTQ+ youth to build supportive connections, reduce the impact of health disparities, and help navigate resources.

We currently offer the following programs for LGBTQ+ youth:

GSA/GSSU Support:

Help for school districts with launching GSA/GSSUs in their district, supporting school climate surveys, providing programming for existing groups, supplementing health classes, and refreshing content for established GSA/GSSUs. 

We also offer SOGIE enrichment for school staff and administrators to better support youth health and wellbeing

TRU:Colors:

Events, information and leadership building activities to reduce the impact of tobacco for LGBTQ+ youth

QT Camp:

An annual summer day camp, QT camp offers a week of innovative programming and recreational activities for youth 12-18

Big Sibs:

Big Sibs offers 1:1 peer support, mentorship, and social events. Big Sibs can help youth with safety considerations for coming out, linkage to legal name and gender marker services, obtaining gender affirming clothing, and help with building supportive social networks. In addition, we’ve partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters to offer Big Siblings to provide mentorship opportunities for youth.

BESTIEE Project:

A Western PA collaborative project serving 18 counties to improve mental health and reduce the impact of suicide for LGBTQ+ youth. This project includes mental health screenings, referrals, group based support, leadership building activities, and events to reduce health disparities.

Youth AFFIRM:

A CBT based support group for youth. Check out our Youth AFFIRM page for more information:

Qlit:

A monthly book group for LGBTQ+ youth ages 12 and up. Books are provided to youth at no cost.

Events & Programs:

Recurring programming and arts based activities for LGBTQ+ youth onsite and in collaboration with our community partners.

Qchat:

Weekly identity based online support in partnership with CenterLink

Programs including Big Sibs mentoring, student LGBTQ+ groups, caretaker workshops and trainings, online QChats and Discord server, social activities, behavioral health groups.

Comprehensive gender and sexuality training services to serve LGBTQIA+ clients and staff for medical and behavioral health providers, child welfare, human services, educators, and corporations.
