Legal Services

Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation’s legal aid program was created to provide free, need-based civil legal aid services for LGBTQ+ and HIV community members in Southwestern Pennsylvania for cases involving identity document support, public benefits counseling, housing support, and civil expungement of criminal records. We assist in connecting people to free or discounted legal aid and other support services. We are unable to take any cases involving criminal law.

With the current political climate and legislative efforts across the nation, we are experiencing a significant increase in requests for support. If you’d like to get involved or help to support this work, please reach out to us!

Please note, all legal aid intake applications are currently being added to a referral waitlist, or registered for one of our upcoming 2026 legal aid clinics.

For general questions, please contact info@hughlane.org. For time-sensitive legal questions, please contact your county’s bar association and/or legal aid organization for pro bono assistance. In Allegheny County, those resources are the ACBA Lawyer Referral Service and Neighborhood Legal Services.

Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation welcomes community feedback. You can make a comment via email to info@hughlane.org, or by mail to Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation 925 Brighton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
